Mountain tea grows in rocky areas, in high altitudes. Greece and Spain are the two countries with the biggest consumption of mountain tea in the world. Mountain tea has nothing to do with the common tea and as it is not stimulating – in contrast to other kinds of tea – it can be consumed even late at night, just before going to bed. It is beneficial for colds and inflammations of the upper respiratory tract. It fights indigestion and gastrointestinal disorders and it is considered to be antispasmodic, analgesic, antioxidant, healing and antidepressant. It is delicious and aromatic and it can be consumed as a beverage, cold or hot, with honey, cinnamon or lemon. To make a decoction, pour a cup of boiling water onto 3-4 sprigs of tea. Leave it infuse for 3-4 minutes, strain and drink.
