Mustard belongs to condiments, that is, to substances that accompany, improve, spice and compliment the main dish. It can substitute condiments which are rich in calories, such as mayonnaise and various dressings, giving excellent flavor to food. It can be added in sandwiches, french fries, fresh salads, meat and fish. The basic ingredients of mustard are mustard seeds, vinegar, sugar, salt and artificial flavoring. Mustard powder is also made from mustard seeds, but it must come into contact with water to release its flavor. For this reason, before being used, it must be mixed with a little water, milk or vinegar. The mixture should be left to rest for a while and then be added to food.
