Cumin is the seeds of a herbaceous plant, known almost all over the Mediterranean region. It is a spice with a strong flavor and taste which is slightly bitter. Cumin is one of the basic ingredients of curry, a mixture of spices. It can be used whole or slightly ground. Since cumin needs time to bring out its flavor, you’d better add it at the beginning of cooking. Add it to lamb, minced meat, chickpeas and lentils as well as to all dishes of oriental cuisine.
